Cross Oak Inns

The Poacher - Tonbridge
Located a few miles south of Tonbridge, expect the latest in cosmopolitan, contemporary design, a highly desirable fine-weather patio and a renewed emphasis on top-quality food and wine
The Ostrich Inn
Dating from 1106 and reckoned to be the third oldest pub in England, the Ostrich (a corruption of its original name, the Hospice)
Cross Oak Inns is an enterprising group which aims to bring a bright new look and fine food to pubs in the South East of England. Their hand-picked venues are eye-catching hostelries in villages and towns across the region, and all have special virtues.

The emphasis is on value and quality, and their chefs make excellent use of local and seasonal ingredients for appetising menus that mix contemporary ideas with traditional favourites.

Each pub makes a feature of well-kept beers and carefully chosen wines.

The Kings Arms Inn - Ockley
A delightfully rustic village setting provides the perfect backdrop for this revitalised seventeenth-century inn; there are still echoes of the past in the bar, with its inglenook fireplace and 'olde-worlde' décor
Like other members of the Cross Oak Inns group, the Ostrich offers an eclectic menu that roams around for Thai-spiced fishcakes, mussel and crab linguine, lamb shank with celeriac mash, cumin and tomato jus, and - of course - fillet of ostrich Wellington; useful back-up is provided by old favourites like homemade pies, local bangers and fish and chips. Chef Chris Perkins earned his stripes at the Michelin-starred Star Inn, Harome, and desserts are his forte
