Restaurants in Berkshire

Split by the hi-tech landscape of England's very own 'Silicon Valley' and the M4 corridor, Berkshire also has its own leafy rolling downs and affluent countryside: this makes the perfect backdrop for equally affluent, gastro pubs, hotels and restaurants. The Thames also runs through much of the county, providing glorious waterside settings, great views and some peerless opportunities for al fresco dining. And then, of course, there's Bray itself - an immaculately turned out village that is home to two of the country's finest restaurants.

Features

Carnarvon Arms - Burghclere
A Grade II-listed building - The interior is decorated in fresh, neutral shades with rich leather upholstery and cartoons on the walls while the décor also pays homage to Highclere, with Egyptian-themed art

Waldo's Restaurant - Cliveden
Since opening as a prestigious five-star hotel in 1986, Cliveden's food has received countless accolades and it seems set to continue in similar vein. Formal meals are served in the lavish Waldo's Restaurant

The Ostrich Inn - Colnbrook
Dating from 1106 and reckoned to be the third oldest pub in England, the Ostrich (a corruption of its original name, the Hospice) has been given a massive contemporary makeover

Dundas Arms - Kintbury
David Dalzell-Piper has been at the helm of this enduring Berkshire inn, The Dundas Arms, for more than three decades, and the place has lost none of its allure over the years
