Review on Kasturi
Tucked away in the depths of Aldgate's cityscapes, Kasturi Indian Restaurant is a particular favourite with the suited brigade at lunchtime, and it puts on a stylish show with its modern design and Art Deco flourishes.
The kitchen draws much of its inspiration from the regional cuisine of the North West Frontier and its emphasis on healthy char-grilling, although specialities span the Sub-continent from the Himalayas in the north to Kanyakumari in the south. In addition to all manner of tandooris and kebabs, there are traditional biryanis plus a contingent of 'popular dishes' (dhansaks, Madras, chicken tikka masala and the like).
Also check out the house specials, which might range from 'koh-e-avadh' (a take on rogan josh prepared with lamb shanks) to 'dahi machli' (tilapia cooked in turmeric and chilli and served with a spicy yoghurt). Drink lager or try one of the fragrant New World wines.
