Review on Old Library Lodge & Restaurant
Situated on the historic 'Road to the Isles' that wends its way from Fort William to Mallaig, the Old Library Lodge is a converted 200-year-old stone stable that has been tastefully converted into a restaurant-with-rooms. It also boasts spectacular views across a sheltered harbour to the Hebridean islands of Rhum and Eigg.
The food served in the cheerful, white-walled restaurant is modern Scottish with a few French influences, and dinner menus might feature bistro-style dishes along the lines of venison pâté with oatcakes, monkfish fillet with tarragon and Pernod, and sirloin of beef with haggis and cream followed by Orkney fudge cheesecake or traditional cloutie dumpling.
