Review on The Barn at Coworth Park
The Barn is one of the restaurants belonging to Coworth Park, a stunning Georgian manor house within 240 acres of grounds complete with its own polo fields and equestrian centre. A multi-million pound venture it's part of the luxurious Dorchester Collection, sister to The Dorchester in Mayfair, London. The Barn is housed in the original barn frame, a short stroll from the Mansion House, adjacent to the stables and cottages. Decked out in a rustic style in keeping with the building, it features an open fireplace, stone floors, perfect for muddy boots, a full wall of windows to take in the views and an outdoor terrace for al fresco dining.
Offering a relaxed style of dining throughout the day, the kitchen serves traditional English dishes using fresh first-class ingredients. The dinner menu sees starters of foie gras brulee, paired with pear chutney and toasted brioche before a main course of beer battered cod and chunky chips, tartar sauce and crushed peas or The Barn cheese burger, dill pickle, Bibb lettuce, beef tomato and chunky chips. Typical desserts on the menu include tipsy sherry trifle, raspberry sorbet and Pedro Ximenez or maybe damson and hazelnut Bakewell tart, homemade jam and clotted cream.
