Conveniently situated close by the RDS and the leafy acres of Herbert Park, this upmarket, privately owned hotel is a fixture of the Ballsbridge scene. The views are suitably tranquil, the atmosphere discreetly civilised.

The Pavilion restaurant is at the centre of things on the ground floor of the hotel, and it has the bonus of a terrace for fine-weather meals. The food has a modern slant, with dishes along the lines of beetroot and vodka-cured salmon with blinis, fillet of beef with pea mash and chocolate jus and cooked-to-order lobster. Mocha coffee parfait is a typical dessert. Jazz buffet lunches are the main event on Sundays.
