Review on Victoria Hotel
Dominating the centre of Bamburgh and overlooking the historic village green, this eye-catching stone-built hotel makes quite an impression with its steeply pitched roof, bay windows and dormers.
Inside it is cool and contemporary, thanks to stylish refurbishment. Meals are served in an award-winning brasserie with a domed glass ceiling, and the menu is in tune with the times.
Dinner might kick off with terrine of duck foie gras and pistachio nuts or tian of crayfish tails and crab with tomato and chilli jam. To follow, there could be pork tenderloin on sage and leek mash with grain mustard sauce or seared marlin with white bean and chorizo cassoulet, while desserts have ranged from orange and sultana sponge pudding to warm roasted figs with Turkish Delight ice cream.
Simpler food is offered in the main bar, and you can enjoy afternoon tea on the patio.
