Review on Glenskirlie House
A grandiose Edwardian house surrounded by acres of parkland, Glenskirlie House has been flying the flag for the foodies of Falkirk for the past 25 years. Husband and wife team John and Linda Macaloney with their dream team of staff have built an untarnished reputation for sheer professionalism throughout.
The food lives up to the sumptuous setting while the kitchen draws on Scottish produce for just about everything. Open your account with a selection of five Mediterranean style hors d'oeuvres, including asparagus wrapped in pastry, duck breast in orange with lettuce chiffonade and mussels bound with crème fraiche & onions. Local game is brought into play with saddle of venison marinated in juniper berries & port and served with an individual liver & bacon pie and truffle cream.
Portions are generous throughout but don't give up before the dessert trolley arrives stacked with puddings that are delicious, rich and sculptural works of art.
