Restaurant Goldener Sternen is the oldest tavern in Basel and is located in the old town of Basel in the St. Alban valley, directly on the bank of the river Rhine. Originally built in 1412 the entire building was moved stone by stone from the Aeschenvorstadt in 1973 to its present position. The menu is a mix of Mediterranean dishes alongside traditional cuisine and there is an extensive wine list to complement the food. In the summer the setting is idyllic as you can sit in the garden and watch the river flow by.
