Review on London House
South West London in Battersea Square was the location for the latest outpost from Michelin-starred celebrity chef Gordon Ramsey, with the opening of London House in February 2014. Set in the former premises of Bennetts Oyster Bar, this neighbourhood venue features a comfortable drinks lounge with a cosy open fireplace and a dining room with a relaxed and informal vibe.
The modern European menu reflects his allegiance to seasonal and market-led produce from local British and artisan suppliers. As a curtain raiser choose crispy pig's head croquette and sauce gribiche or mussels, garlic butter and charred soughdough. Main courses embrace monkfish, purple sprouting broccoli and laksa mussels or red wine braised beef and wild mushrooms. Sweet-toothed diners can satisfy their cravings with rhubarb and custard doughnuts or a sticky toffee pudding. Children are made welcome and have their own menu.
The well-chosen global wine list hits the target with plenty of lively drinking on offer, together with a tasty cocktail menu and London brewed beers.
