Review on Café Town Square at The Crescent Townhouse Hotel
The Crescent Townhouse is not only Belfast's 'original boutique hotel', it also scores bonus points with its enviable location – tucked away near the Botanic gardens and railway station, close to the University and the city's nightlife.
Pride of place goes to the stylish, street-level restaurant which really comes into its own during the evening. The menu points up its European backbone with a few Far Eastern ideas, witness shredded duck and coriander spring rolls or crispy Thai beef with spiced pak choi, rice and chilli jam alongside wild mushroom and asparagus risotto, slow-roast cod with spinach, poached egg and salsa verde, and rare breed pork and apple sausages with chive mash, confit carrot, red onion and plum chutney.
A full vegetarian menu is available and 'early-bird' deals are handy for a meal before the theatre. Lunch is a simpler affair, with BLTs, salads, burgers and straightforward brasserie dishes like steak and stout pie with champ.
