Review on Mourne Seafood Bar
An offshoot of Mourne's in Dundrum, County Down, this seafood bar/restaurant sits beside Kelly's Cellars boozer in the centre of the city. Inside, it is traditionally laid out on two floors with lots of original dark wood, exposed brickwork and an on-site fresh fish shop.
Mussels, cockles and oysters from the owners' beds in Carlingford Lough are the star turns; the rest of the catch is delivered daily from the ports of Annalong and Kilkeel. The choice is extensive, whether you eat in the ground-floor bar or the posher upstairs dining room. As well as molluscs and bivalves every which way (look for the mighty mixed platters), you could opt for pan-fried langoustines in garlic butter, smoked salmon on wheaten bread, fish and chips or 'surf and turf' – not forgetting grilled goats' cheese, locally reared steaks and pan-fried chicken breast with mushroom cream sauce.
