Review on Antico Restaurant & Lounge Bar
Antico Restaurant & Lounge Bar is located at the corner of Bermondsey Street and Long Lane, a short walk from Borough and London Bridge stations. The restaurant is set in a newly renovated antiques warehouse with a simple décor featuring exposed brick walls, and a stylish downstairs lounge bar with music and occasional live events.
This is the first venture from chef/proprietor Nick Crispini who previously worked with Theo Randall at the InterContinental Hotel. The finest local ingredients are carefully sourced for Antico's Italian cuisine offering traditional dishes presented with a modern touch along the lines of scallop carpaccio, chives and lime dressing or prawn and squid fritti, fresh chilli and basil aioli. Main courses usher in a lamb and mint ragu pappardelle or maybe choose the roasted guinea fowl on bruschetta, kale and lemon mascarpone. Bringing up the rear are desserts such as a classic tiramisu or a chocolate, almond and hazelnut cake.
The wine list has been compiled with the help of Winetraders, one of the leading UK specialists in Italian wine and presents a good collection that offers something for everyone in terms of both taste and budget. There is also an expertly crafted cocktail and aperitivo menu.
