Review on Bistrotheque

High fashion in the remnants of an old clothing 'sweat shop' brings the punters to Bistrotheque a stylish Bethnal Green bistro. The establishment is spread over two floors, with a cocktail bar downstairs and the restaurant in a high-vaulted room above. The style is 'industrial meets bistro', with bentwood furniture, marble-topped tables and rough white walls.

The kitchen has its way with bistro classics such as moules marinière, asparagus with poached egg and hollandaise, and grilled duck breast with fondant potatoes, but also ventures into the world of grilled razor clams with broad beans, leeks and garlic, lobster and chips, and steak tartare. To finish there are safe-and-sound desserts like crème brûlée, lemon tart and rhubarb pie with custard.

On Saturday and Sunday, a crowd-pleasing brunch menu features dishes from the main carte plus breakfast favourites like 'full English', eggs Benedict and scrambled eggs with chorizo. The wine list focuses heavily on famous and little known French names.

    GREAT TIME

    What a lovely place!!!
Good Location and a nice ambience!
Lovely starters, well executed and nicely presented. (Steak tartare , Sea bass tartare) I would order it again.

Main course only one as my girlfriend wasn't hungry ( Sea bream) I asked to fillet it, simply because i prefer it.
Unfortunately I wouldn't order it again
Reason: The skin wasn't crispy, Big portion I have to say, But tasted very battery!!!
Which I didn't like. The fennel was hot...so not very pleasant..

We were sitting at the bar and had wine by the glasses which was poured very far from us and we couldn't see the bottle.

    Value for money : Good
A bit disappointed with the main, but obviously you pay for what you get.. 16 pound it's reasonable enough for bream.. therefore didn't complain at all.

Ambience : was lovely! We met very nice people and had loads of laughs!

Over All : A night to remember and I will definitely go back again!!!

Funny things: The Spanish girl behind the bar kept smashing glasses all night long ...which I found hilarious!!!
And when she told us about the fish of the day which it was Hake she spoke about it as it was an amazing kind of fish.. :-D
Probably she was not aware that is one of the cheapest fish around..

SEAT AT THE BAR IF YOU WANT TO HAVE FUN AND MEET PEOPLE!!!! TABLES LOOKED A BIT BORING!
