Restaurant Sa Tafoneta is housed in Can Furiós, a delightful country house hotel in the peaceful hamlet of Binibona in the foothills of the Tramuntana mountains, a 40 minute drive from the historic city of Palma. The original house with its twin Moorish towers has been sympathetically renovated by local craftsmen to provide a luxurious environment, whilst retaining its original traditional character.

The restaurant is set in the tafona, the old olive press room which dates back to the 17th century. The main dining room still retains the original olive press, and is an elegant and inviting space, with stylish royal blue chairs set against tables laid with contrasting white and royal blue linen. During summer months guests can dine on the terrace and enjoy the views of the surrounding countryside.

Voted one of the top ten restaurants on the island, the kitchen is keen to source the very best of local ingredients for its menu. Locally caught seafood is a speciality and diners might enjoy a starter of fresh crab on a potato pancake with spinach and glazed with hollandaise followed by a main course of steamed fillet of sea bass, baby vegetables and aiole, or for carnivores there's grilled fillet steak medallions "au poivre" with spinach puree and a fondant potato. Tasty desserts close the show with lemon tart and creme fraiche or maybe white and dark chocolate mousse with orange sauce. Accompanying the menu is a well conceived wine list including wines from all regions of Spain, as well as many fine wines from Mallorca.
