Review on Scottish Steak Club at Macdonald Burlington Hotel
An easy stroll from New Street station, the Burlington started life as a railway hotel way back in 1881, and it still bears all the signs of a grand, old-school city-centre hotel of the old school, complete with ornate marble staircases and period décor.
The Scottish Steak Club doesn't let the side down with its glittering chandeliers, huge mirrors and intricately fashioned ceiling. It's a sophisticated setting for fine Scottish cuisine that takes pride in organic locally sourced produce. Kick off with the Butcher's board consisting of pastrami beef, smoked venison, Parma ham, piccalilli and pickled gherkins or maybe fishcakes paired with caper mayonnaise. Main courses offer an excellent selection of fine steaks or elsewhere on the carte you could choose North Sea battered fish and chips and
tartare sauce. Finish off with desserts in the shape of sticky toffee pudding or a Knickerbocker glory.
