Review on Loves Restaurant
Loves Restaurant is a multi-award winning restaurant set in the heart of Birmingham's rejuvenated canal basin. It is owned by chef Steve Love and his wife Claire who is in charge of the polished amicable service. The split level restaurant has a sleek contemporary décor with designer wallpaper, banquettes and well laid dark wood tables set on chocolate coloured carpet.
Steve was a former Roux scholar who worked under Alain Ducasse in Paris and is a former winner of the coveted National Chef of the Year for Great Britain, an honour shared by Gordon Ramsey. Confidence, impeccable technique, attention to detail and first-class ingredients are the hallmark of Love's cooking, which has been awarded three prestigious rosettes in the AA Restaurant Guide. Open your account with carpaccio of Herefordshire beef, corned beef croquette, avocado mayonnaise, truffled Pecorino cheese, followed by a main course of Cornish plaice tranche, pak choi, chestnut and caper gnocchi, aromatic tomatoes, "Crème de Laitue". Desserts are enticing affairs with dark chocolate, banana and peanut Darcquoise, lime caramel, palm sugar ice cream or maybe marinated raspberries, raspberry and basil sorbet, white chocolate cake, Namelaka.
The wine list brings together some great wines from around the globe, featuring a collection that offers something for everyone in terms of taste and budget.
