Review on Malmaison
Birmingham's ultra-stylish Mailbox complex (once a Royal Mail sorting office) is home to all manner of trendy shops, restaurants and other venues, including this branch of the Malmaison hotel chain.
The Chez Mal Brasserie is a highly popular meeting place, with its little pockets of privacy surrounded by walls lined with wine bottles. Breakfast and Sunday brunch bring in the punters, and the full menu caters for just about every taste.
Starters might include carpaccio of beef with celeriac rémoulade or goats' cheese and onion marmalade tartlet, while main courses could range from salmon fishcakes with parsley sauce or daube of beef to char-grills and burgers. As a finale, there are desserts such as chocolate fondant with chocolate ice cream and banana bread-and-butter pudding.
