Review on Blakes at The Connaught
The award winning Blakes restaurant is set in The Connaught Hotel, originally constructed around 1850 as a gentleman's residence, it is ideally situated on the West Cliff in the coastal resort of Bournemouth in Dorset, a short walk from the beach. Recently refurbished the restaurant has a warm and elegant interior, with views overlooking the garden where guests can enjoy candlelit al fresco dining during summer months.
Head Chef Ben Nicol and his team take pride in offering a wide range of British and French dishes using the very best of local ingredients. Open your account with potted Creedy Carver duck served with spiced plum compote and ginger bread or Dorset crab, chicory, pink grapefruit, avocado and sesame tuille. Main courses usher in roasted pork belly, ham hock croquette, confit shallots, pickled apple puree, trompette and port sauce or maybe seared bream fillet, honey and fennel puree, new potato salad, orange caviar and olive oil dressing. Round off the show with an indulgent Connaught chocolate cake, cherry compote and white chocolate ice cream, or choose a selection of award winning local Dorset and British cheeses.
Diners looking for a more informal dining experience can opt for the casual Connaught Brasserie open all day.
