Review on Tipple 'n' Tiffin
Sharing and gazing are openly encouraged at this enterprising café-style venue in the Brecon Theatre. The owners support local and organic produce in a big way, making use of Brecon venison, artisan Welsh cheeses and all manner of produce from growers in the area; the kitchen is also keen on hot-smoking and oak-roasting.
All dishes are roughly the same price, whether it's deep-fried Penclawydd cockles with salsa and crispy bacon, slow-roast ribs of Tamworth pork in hoisin marinade with chilli noodles, or goats' cheese and caramelised onion tartlets.
Added to this are freshly baked breads, colourful salads (chorizo, Feta, sun-blush tomatoes and olives, for example), plates of charcuterie and desserts ranging from chocolate espresso crème brûlée to local ice creams. The short, sharp wine list and lovely canalside setting are a real bonus.
