Review on Court Colman Manor, Bokhara Brasserie
Set in six acres of landscaped grounds including a waterfall, rose walk and even a dog's cemetery, this magnificent listed manor is now a country house hotel much favoured as the setting for weddings and conferences.
The interior is unashamedly opulent, with a sweeping staircase and majestic ballroom. By contrast the Bokhara Brasserie is decidedly cosmopolitan: warm terracotta, red and orange colours set the tone and provide the perfect backdrop for a menu that gives equal billing to India and the Med.
If you fancy something oriental, the menu offers a decent choice of tandooris, curries such as rara gosht Punjabi (chunks of lamb with mince and liver braised grilled chillies and spices) and vegetarian options, plus kulfi and warm chocolate cake to finish. There's also an all-you-can-eat buffet every night except Saturday. The Mediterranean menu works its way through shellfish soup, roast best end of lamb with orange and coriander sauce, sea bass baked in rock salt and char-grilled fillet steak.
