GB1 Seafood Restaurant & Bar is the signature dining destination within the iconic Grand Hotel Brighton, located on the seafront, just a short walk from the Pier and the city's famous shopping lanes. Built in 1864 on the site previously occupied by a battery house, the Victorian building with its magnificent Renaissance style hit the headlines on 12 October 1984, when the IRA detonated a bomb in an attempt to assassinate Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. Current owners De Vere have undertaken a multi-million pound refurbishment programme, creating an elegant and modern venue ensuring its position as one of the most luxurious hotels in Brighton.

GB1 has been tastefully done out in chic neutral tones with a champagne and oyster bar seating up to 20 diners in the heart of the light and airy room, featuring impressive columns and embellished ornate plasterwork on the ceiling. There's also private dining available on the restaurant's terrace, offering stunning sea views.

Seafood cookery is the business of the day and holding the reins in the kitchen is Executive Chef Alan White. Quality and simplicity is the hallmark of his dishes, fish is sourced locally and from sustainable sources and there are also vegetarian and meat options available on the menus. Offering an excellent selection of native and rock oysters or a classic fruits de mer to share, followed by lobster burger, minced coastal lobster and smoked bacon, brioche bun, fries and coleslaw or carnivores can choose a succulent steak from the grill. To round things off there are desserts in the shape of pineapple tatin with caramel and puff pastry served with coconut sherbet or vanilla pannacotta with frangipane, blueberry and sugared almonds.
