Review on The Ginger Dog

The Ginger Dog can be found in the village of Kemptown, opened by husband and wife wife team Ben and Pamela McKellar, who are renowned for their three other Gingerman restaurants in Brighton. The interior has a contemporary style with striped wooden floors, open fires, red leather banquettes, retro style mirrors adorning the walls, and quirky bowler hat lights hang from the ceiling.

Produce is locally sourced and seasonal ingredients are put through their paces for a menu that might kick off with crispy mozzarella with ratatouille, red pepper peppolata and rocket before mains of rabbit, morel mushroom and Madeira pie with mash and buttered kale. Cracking desserts close the show with roast chestnut and cider brandy tart with vanilla ice cream and candied chestnuts or passion fruit pannacotta with passion fruit Jelly, millionaires short bread and toasted coconut. There is an excellent wine list, fine local ales as well as their signature ginger twist.

The Ginger Dog is also featured in: Michelin Guide, Hardens
