Review on Nuovo Brasserie
Nuovo Brasserie is a smart modern restaurant located on Queens Road in the prosperous suburban town of Buckhurst Hill in the Epping Forest district of Essex. The restaurant looks eminently chic with a contemporary décor, all presented in a palette of warm neutrals with striking splashes of red and black offering a smart contrast. The cocktail lounge with its swish black bar is the perfect meeting place for a pre-dinner drink or liqueur and coffee after your meal.
Heading the kitchen is Frederick Foster, the current National Chef of the Year who earned his culinary stripes as a Roux Scholar at the famous Westminster College, as well as working at a number of Michelin star restaurants such as Raymond Blanc's Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons.
The menu focuses on seasonality and draws supplies daily from the nearby markets of Billingsgate, Smithfield and New Spitalfields. Open your account with grilled king tiger prawns, black pudding with cucumber and chilli sauce before a main course of calves liver with bacon or sage butter served with new potatoes and green beans, or choose from the grill the full rack of tender pork ribs marinated and seasoned with their special recipe, basted with barbecue sauce, served with house chips and coleslaw. Desserts are picture pretty assemblages such as honey panna cotta with rhubarb, pineapple and Champagne granita or vanilla cheesecake with orange and passion fruit jelly. The wine list offers a good choice of quaffable stuff at realistic prices and there's some tasty cocktails on offer as well.
