There are unrivalled views of the River Trent from Branston's aptly named Riverside Hotel, and the venue has its own private island, moorings and a fishing licence for those guests who want to catch their own supper. The Garden Room Restaurant offers classic and contemporary cuisine in warm, cosy surrounds defined by rich, earthy tones and effective, subtle spot-lighting. The kitchen's sure touch shows in dishes such as sticky lemon chicken with potato wedges, seared Barbary duck breast with blackberry and port sauce or beef and Ruddles Ale pie.

Steaks and deli boards are also popular, and a range of 'light bits, platters and sharers' feed the daytime crowds (till 5.00pm Mon-Sat). Finely tuned service and a globetrotting wine list complete the picture.
