Review on Mango Room
Vintage reggae and ska provide a soundtrack to the colourful Caribbean food served in the vibrant Mango Room (actually three different rooms strikingly designed with exposed brickwork, huge floral displays and quirky modern art on brightly painted walls).
The kitchen keeps faith with tradition by offering ackee and saltfish, jerk chicken and curried goat, but it also flexes its muscles for more innovative contemporary ideas. Grilled scallops are served on melon salsa with apple crisps and pomegranate dressing, medallions of monkfish come with a spicy mango coulis, and there's baby spinach, okra and coconut risotto with fried plantain, cherry tomatoes and crispy leeks for vegetarians.
For afters, check out the mango and banana crème brûlée or warm chocolate and coconut cake. The wine list has been carefully assembled to complement the food, while fans of punchy cocktails and obscure rums should make a beeline for the Rum Shack bar.
