Review on Juboraj Restaurant
The original branch of a growing mini-chain of Indian restaurants, Juboraj occupies an opulent Georgian building to the north of Cardiff city at Rhiwbina, not far from the Milenium Stadium. It has been making the headlines for more than 20 years, and now rates as one of big hitters in South Wales, with a celebrity client list that embraces everyone from politicians to rock legends.
In a reassuringly familiar and unmodish setting of pink wallpaper and wicker chairs, it offers a menu with a full quota of tandooris, dhansaks, bhunas and biryanis, supplemented by some more intriguing chef's specialities. Look for jamdhani haash (breast of duck cooked in light spices with honey and lime juice) or lamb cutlets marinated with native Bengali citrus fruit, crushed garlic and chilli. Good choice of vegetable side dishes, rice and breads, too.
