Review on The George
The George at Cavendish, "Les Routiers Dinning Pub of the Year 2003, East Anglia" had life breathed back into it by Jonathan and Charlotte Nicholson in 2002. Since then, it hasn't looked back.
It is a tastefully designed, beamed restaurant, overlooking the village green. The restaurant accommodates 56 diners inside, but has a walled garden and courtyard area.
Kirsty, Assistant Manageress told The Mobile Food Guide that if she didn't actually work there, she would be enticed by the ambience of the courtyard garden which has 15 tables with heaters. So you can dine their in the evening al fresco and still feel warm and together with the lovely garden and courtyard, it gives a wonderful 'Mediterranean' feeling. The back wall backs on the churchyard.
The fresh produce of the season is always utilised in the imaginative menu and the finest wine producers are featured on the wine list along with superb real ales, like the locally produced Woodeford's Wherry.
