Review on The Ivy House
The Ivy House is set between the Old Town of Amersham and the pretty village of Chalfont St Giles on the A413, a 17th-century brick-and-flint free house that offers everything you can expect from a country pub which is steeped in history and has one of the best views in the Chilterns..
With its traditional charm and ambience with its old beams and wood burning fires, Ivy House has a smart patio for al fresco eating and five en suite rooms.
As for the cuisine, the Ivy House offers the typically reliable Gastro pub fayre of a modern English style with some exotic and 'Rustic European' influences. One may start with creamy goats cheese, sun-dried tomatoes with a walnut and rocket salad with a lemon & course-grain mustard dressing or perhaps the steaming New Zealand greenlip mussels with a chilli, coriander & lemon grass butter might tickle your fancy. Main courses include char-grilled Gressingham duck breast cooked pink and served with a special Ivy House sauce and the divine hot seared tuna drizzled with Balsamic vinegar & honey dressing topped with toasted sesame seeds on Chef's special salad. The well stocked bar also offers a wide range of ales, malt whiskies and 20 global wines by the glass.
