Bumpkin located in affluent Chelsea, is the fourth branch of this successful restaurant from the Ignite Group, with siblings in Notting Hill, South Kensington and Westfield Stratford Shopping centre in East London. Located on Sydney Street, in a Georgian townhouse with a ground floor restaurant, a private dining room called The Botany Club on the top floor and The Secret Garden, a conservatory inspired al fresco terrace, ideal for cocktail canapés or wedding receptions.
British food is top of the agenda and the menu follows the seasons, products are sourced from ethically and sustainable supplies, ensuring that all ingredients used are of the finest quality. On offer there might be smoked Gressingham duck with pink grapefruit, rhubarb, watercress and tomato dressing or pan fried West Coast scallops, bacon tomato jam, cauliflower fritters and sea vegetables amongst the starters. Main courses take in baked Cornish Spider crab with sea vegetables and crispy battered oysters or for carnivores there's slow roasted Dingley Dell pork belly, cheesy potato bake and Bramley apple sauce. There's inviting desserts to finish with iced dark chocolate and honeycomb slices, fresh strawberries and a yoghurt dressing or Cartmel sticky toffee pudding, with Jude's vanilla ice cream.
The wine list brings together some great wines from around the globe using sustainable, organic or bi-dynamic practices, with the majority available by the glass. There's also a well-crafted cocktail menu featuring drinks such as Cherry Blossom, Cognac, Ratafia, Morello cherry liqueur, chilli and served with a cherry blossom flower.
