Review on Tinello
Tinello is a smart Italian restaurant located on the former site of L'Incontro in Chelsea, a short stroll from Sloane Square. The sleek dining room is moodily lit with bronze pendulum lights suspended from the ceiling, dark exposed brickwork, mirrored walls, floor-to-ceiling wine racks and well-dressed tables on the oak flooring. The venture is a partnership between two Tuscany brothers and their former employer, celebrity chef Giorgio Locatelli. Frederico Sali was head chef at the Locanda Locatelli restaurant and Max was the wine buyer and head sommelier.
To kick start proceedings you can choose pork salami, shallots, parsley and caper salad from the antipasti section of the menu, or you may prefer something from the 'small eats' which is a selection of small tapas size dishes, such as pickled octopus or slow cooked loin of pork with quince apple jelly. To follow on you could select from the pasta menu Spaghettini alla polpa di granchio, Spaghettini, Cornish crab meat, chilli and garlic or maybe from the secondi piatti loin of venison, pumpkin, watercress and hazelnuts. Proceedings conclude with a classic dessert of tiramisu or apple cake, rum and raisin ice cream. There is an interesting wine list at realistic prices, with several offerings by the glass. Service is warm and efficient ensuring an excellent dining experience.
