Review on Field & Fork
Field & Fork has moved its location from within the Pallant House Gallery to Guild Street in the heart of Chichester. Now housed in a charming building by historic walled Priory Park, the restaurant welcomes guests into a warm and relaxed setting featuring a conservatory, bar and fireplace. A family run restaurant owned by Sam and Janet Mahoney, he mans the stoves while she is in charge of the amicable service. They are also the resident caterers at Southend Barns, a beautiful wedding and event venue on the South coast, just 4 miles from Chichester.
Sam started his career working for the esteemed Roux Brothers, and has since worked for Rowley Leigh at Kensington Place as Head Chef before setting up on his own. Among the starters you might likely see maple glazed slow roasted pork belly with smoked eel, carrot coleslaw and ginger jus, before moving on to salt and pepper squid, sweet pickled vegetables and green mango or crispy shoulder of lamb, saffron onions, pea puree, pomegranate and feta. Round things off with lime and basil pannacotta, pineapple carpaccio, poppy seed tuille or peanut butter parfait, caramelized banana and candied peanuts. The well chosen wine selection will not break the bank.
