Review on Elizabethan Inn Restaurant & Bar
Down country roads in a tiny hamlet between Chudleigh and Teignmouth, this aptly named, five-centuries-old inn looks and feels like a quintessential English country pub, complete with beams, pews and a pretty cottage garden.
You can eat and drink in the cosy, traditionally furnished bar or one of the smart dining areas – one menu is served throughout the pub. Simple stuff is offered at lunchtime (anything from a warm salad of seared salmon to sautéed mushrooms in garlic and herb butter), but the evening menu spreads its wings for the likes of roast tomato and pepper soup, Barbary duck breast with Cassis and blackcurrant sauce and grilled Dover sole with capers and herbs, followed by chocolate, orange and Mascarpone cheesecake or iced meringue parfait. Locally brewed real ales and quaffable wines by the glass.
