Review on 101 Talbot Restaurant
Neil and Jenny Magee's trailblazing 101 Talbot Restaurant attracts crowds from the nearby Abbey and Gate theatres, and the effervescent first-floor dining room has a real arty buzz with its ever-changing exhibitions by local painters and photographers lining the walls.
The kitchen has earned a reputation for its light, healthy and colourfully eclectic food, which shows strong leanings towards the Med and the Middle East. You might begin with Vietnamese warm squid salad and toasted cashews ahead of crispy lamb with Moroccan spices, couscous and crème fraîche or roast duck breast with sweet orange jus and Chinese greens.
Vegetarians do really well here, with almost half the menu focusing on meatless dishes such as goats' cheese, sun-dried tomato and walnut cheesecake or asparagus, blue cheese and mushroom lasagne. Buzzy, vivacious service helps things along splendidly.
