Review on Buswells Hotel, Trumans Restaurant
A well-respected boutique hotel in the centre of the city, this collection of five elegant Georgian townhouses has operated as a hotel since 1882. It remains a focal point of Dublin life and is equally popular with tourists, the business crowd and many of Ireland's top politicians.
Fine dining takes place in the elegant Trumans restaurant, which has its own entrance on Kildare Street. The kitchen delivers a wide-ranging menu of dishes from around the globe, spanning everything from smoked haddock fishcakes and grilled Dover sole to 'bang bang' chicken salad, Malaysian laksa and Barbary duck with egg noodles and miso broth.
There are also plenty of French and Italian influences at work, witness sardines escabeche, baked fillet of sea bass with braised fennel and garlic mash or mustard-glazed belly pork with Puy lentils. To finish, expect strawberry tart or white chocolate and passion fruit Pavlova. Lunch is a traditional carvery.
