Review on The Greenhouse
Situated at the St Stephen's Green end of Dawson Street in Dublin, acclaimed chef and restaurateur Eamonn O'Reilly has relaunched his Bleu all day venue with The Greenhouse, a fine dining restaurant with high aspirations. It certainly looks the business with its smart interior, contemporary seating, crisp white napery, glass and brown colour schemes.
Joining Eamonn at the stoves is talented Finnish Head Chef Mickael Viljanen, who previously worked at the luxurious Gregan's Castle in Ballyvaughan. Menus are dedicated to the seasonality of ingredients, serving exciting creative flavours using the finest local and regional produce.
Modern ideas abound on the menu with dishes artfully displayed on the plate, working its way through the likes of raw marinated scallop, parmesan, horseradish, lemon and black radish or foie gras, royale and frozen apple and candied nuts. Other options worth considering are turbot, smoked octopus, sea vegetables, broccoli, hazelnut oil veloute and anchovy emulsion or roast young Sika deer and cailette, pumpkin, liquorice, bone marrow, and black walnuts. Proceedings conclude in style with tempting desserts like pickled ginger creme caramel, sea buckthorn or guanaja cremeux, peanut, banana, caramel and olive.
There is a well-chosen extensive wine list, knowledgeably garnered from all the corners of the world together with faultless service. The restaurant scooped two prestigious Michelin stars in the 2020 edition of the Guide.
