Review on Marco Pierre White Steakhouse & Grill
Situated on the Royal Mile close to Edinburgh Castle and the shops of Princes Street, this luxurious hotel caters admirably for business visitors and the hordes of tourists that descend annually on the city.
Pride of place goes to the Marco Pierre White Steakhouse & Grill, a smartly decorated restaurant that offers gourmet cuisine from the world famous chef. Classic dishes among the starters include Welsh rarebit with poached egg or for fish fans there's Scottish smoked salmon, properly garnished with shallots, capers, pickled cucumber and buttered brown bread. When it comes to main courses there's an excellent selection of the finest quality steaks served with roasted vine tomatoes and a choice of triple cooked chips, pommes frites or a steakhouse green salad. Elsewhere there's signature dishes like Mr Lamb's shepherd pie with buttered garden peas or Wheeler's smoked haddock fishcake with poached egg, wilted baby spinach and sauce tartar. To finish it's hard to resist desserts like banana and caramel mess, fresh banana, meringue, Chantilly cream, ice cream and caramel sauce or Mr. Coulson's sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce and vanilla ice cream.
