Review on Restaurant at The Bonham
Recently voted Scottish Boutique Hotel of the Year, the Bonham is a stylish Victorian townhouse conversion in Edinburgh's West End – just a stroll away from the city's shops and sights. There's a feel of contemporary elegance about the place, especially in the restaurant – a seriously fashionable dining room with cool colour schemes, polished wood floors and huge mirrors creating the impression of a much larger space.
Seared hand-dived scallops with crab cannelloni, pear and caper dressing is a current favourite – along with oysters au naturel. Otherwise, dinner menus might kick off with rocket and goats' cheese cappuccino soup or duck confit and wild mushroom terrine with chicory salad and piccalilli.
Typical main courses could range from grilled fillet of sea bass with lobster risotto and salsa verde to pan-fried Aberdeen Angus sirloin steak with braised oxtail, dauphinois potato and tarragon jus, while desserts might feature hot caramel soufflé or milk chocolate fondant with lime and yoghurt sorbet.
