Review on Kama Sutra
'All will be revealed as you feast your senses over our candlelit cornucopia of exotic and evocative eastern cuisine'. So runs the blurb about this 'sumptuous' Indian on Sauchiehall Street. As you might expect from the restaurant's name, the menu is peppered with saucy innuendos: starters are subtitled 'foreplay', and there's much talk of 'flames of passion' (aka. chilli heat).
The menu has its share of bhunas, kormas, biryanis and the like, but it's worth looking out for some of the more interesting regional specialities including Goan fish and prawns with coconut and green chillies, Keralan kana and Bombay bakra lamb. Even more unusual are the Indo-Chinese fusion dishes from the north-east frontier: note the Himalayan hot pot, Tibetan ting-sa and sweet-and-sour 'desi' extravaganzas.
Thalis are good value and there's a help-yourself buffet at lunchtime. The wine list has been carefully assembled to match the food.
