28° - 50° a wine workshop and kitchen on Fetter Lane, is the latest venture from Agnar Sverrisson sibling to Michelin starred Texture restaurant. It is located in the basement, just off Fleet street and has the distinct feel of a wine cellar, bare brick walls with shelves lined with vintage wine bottles, stripped wood flooring and oak tables simply set with flickering candles. The name of the restaurant 28° - 50° refers to the latitude where almost all of the world's vineyards are located.
Head Chef Julien Barris together with Agnar Sverrison have created a seasonal menu using high quality ingredients for their French inspired cuisine. This is accomplished cooking to compliment what is the star of the show, the enticing wine list. The short list of fifteen red and fifteen white wines available by the glass, carafe and bottle changes frequently to give you the opportunity of trying different grapes and wine making styles. There is also a wine maker of the month, together with their exciting Collector List, where they buy mature vintages from a range of great winemakers and friends and sell at reasonable prices, giving you the opportunity to sample some fabulous wines not seen before.
