Review on Riverside Bar & Restaurant
The setting is a big plus point at this lively bar/restaurant: the Riverside stands opposite the Point and enjoys stupendous views of the River Humber from the pier to the Bull Fort out to sea. It's a welcome addition to the area's sparse dining scene, and offers all manner of culinary possibilities.
The main restaurant is on the first floor, with polished walnut floors, subtle lighting and refined table settings - a suitable backdrop for food with a strong European slant. Tapas combos are a good way to start, before a choice of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes that might run to herbed rack of lamb with sweet potato mash, sea bass with Puy lentils, chives and mustard vinaigrette, and baked aubergine, spinach and tomato ragoût. There are also simpler offerings such as fish pie, while steaks take centre stage on the first Wednesday of each month.
The bustling ground-floor Riverside Bar has an spacious open-plan interior and a decked front, plus an all-day menu that takes in world nibbles, ciabattas and salads, along with bowls of curry and casserole. Drinkers have a big choice of wines, beers and cocktails.
