One Leicester Street, formerly the St John Hotel located in the heart of Chinatown opened in Spring 2011 on the site of Manzi's famous seafood restaurant. Originally founded by chef Fergus Henderson and restaurateur Trevor Gulliver, the hotel ran into financial difficulties in 2012 and was bought out of administration by Singaporean hotelier and restaurateur Loh Lik Peng.
Having previously gained a prestigious Michelin star in 2012 when in was St John, the kitchen is still led by Tom Harris who is now chef-patron of the restaurant at One Leicester Street. Menus change daily showcasing the finest seasonal ingredients and the kitchen also uses products that are cured, smoked and pickled in house. The restaurant is open from early morning for breakfast, through to lunch and dinner where you have the option for popping in for a quick bite or a leisurely meal.
Typical offerings on the evening carte are snails, duck hearts and lovage, followed by a main course of cod, sea beet and anchovy, finishing with a dessert of brown butter and honey tart or maybe salt caramel, apple and hazelnut.
