Review on Scoff & Banter Covent Garden
Scoff & Banter is located in the Radisson Edwardian Mercer Street and stands right at the apex of Seven Dials in Covent Garden. This deluxe hotel has undergone a £15 million makeover and re-launched in May 2011, with its transformation complete by the autumn. The modern restaurant has a chic décor with plush dark purple velvet chairs and stylish matching flower patterned banquette seating lining the walls.
Ideally placed in the heart of theatre land, just opposite the Cambridge theatre the kitchen serves traditional British dishes with ingredients ethically sourced and a strong commitment to promoting sustainability. Start with poached and rolled organic Scottish salmon, warm potato and dill salad or maybe English tea smoked duck, crispy duck crackling, and bitter orange. Main courses take in Shepherd's pie, Savoy cabbage and crispy smoked bacon or Beer battered haddock, hand-cut chips, tartare sauce and Manchester caviar. When it comes to desserts there's hot apple crumble and custard or a raspberry Eton mess.
The wine list brings together some great wines from around the globe featuring a collection that offers something for everyone in terms of both taste and budget.
