Review on Huddarts Restaurant

Andrew and Julie Huddart's delightful neighbourhood restaurant occupies a beautiful old Georgian house dating back to 1756, and it's becoming quite a feature of the Cowbridge dining scene. Inside, all is itimate and relaxing, with Welsh tapestries adorning the walls and pleasantly professional staff on hand to guide customers through the menu.

The cooking takes its inspiration from excellent Welsh ingredients, but gives them a contemporary spin. Home-smoked quail tinged with citrus gets a spiced apricot and coriander stuffing, while Pant Ysgawn goats' cheese tartlets are drizzled with raspberry vinaigrette. Elsewhere, expect monkfish with orange beurre blanc spiked with gin, and saddle of Pellyne lamb on a confit with red wine jus. As for desserts, Andrew might dream up dark chocolate tart with orange and Cointreau butterscotch - or you might fancy one of his homemade ice creams and sorbets.
