Review on The Strand Inn & Seafood Restaurant
For more than 300 years, the Strand Inn has been making its mark in a gorgeous sheltered cove overlooking the Atlantic and the Hook Head Lighthouse. In recent times it has been house and home to the Foyle family, who have transformed this atmospheric hostelry into one of the region's most favoured destinations for fresh seafood.
Deliveries come straight from the boats in the harbour - so freshness is never in doubt. A specials board lists the day's catch, while the regular menu promises things like fillets of lemon sole and prawns topped with Waterford Cheddar soufflι or brochettes of monkfish with BBQ sauce and herb rice. Meat eaters are also catered for with - say - roast Dromcollogher duck stuffed with citrus fruits or steak Diane. Note that opening times may be restricted during the winter months. The Strand also boasts 15 pleasant guest rooms.
