Review on Charlotte's Place Restaurant
Since its facelift and re-birth in 2002, Charlotte's Place has taken on a new identity and a new lease of life - it stands on a corner right opposite Ealing Common, and attracts an enthusiastic local crowd with its blend of casual modern décor and sound European-based cooking.
Menus tend to change each month, but you might open your account with - say - ravioli of wild salmon and scallops with shellfish butter sauce or confit pork belly with salsa verde, chorizo and flageolet ragoût before tackling bouillabaisse, coq au vin or fillet of bream with wilted kale, cocotte potatoes and beurre noisette. To finish, try the chocolate 'tower' (layers of Baileys mousse and chocolate mousse topped with dark chocolate on a biscuit and walnut base) or hazelnut-infused set custard with blossom honey.
Bestselling Sunday roasts tend to run right through the day and a jazz pianist plays in the lower dining room on Friday and Saturday evenings.
