Review on Garnier
Garnier is an elegant French restaurant located on Earl's Court Road a short stroll from Earl's Court Exhibition Centre and tube. It is co-owned by two brothers Eric and Didier Garnier who are very well known in the restaurant scene, Eric is the co-founder of the well regarded Racine in Knightsbridge, while Didier runs the equally popular Le Colombier in Chelsea. The restaurant has been given a classic brasserie look with walls lined with gold-framed mirrors, and red velvet banquettes set against tables laid with crisp white linen.
The food is prepared using classic techniques, kicking off with starters such as fricassée of snails, lardo, garlic on toast with a parsley velouté or maybe duck liver terrine and fig compote. Main courses follow the theme with roast cod, broccoli, bacon and beurre blanc or braised pork cheek, tomato, red peppers and basil sauce. To finish who could resist a classic Crêpe Suzette or a traditional crème brûlée à la vanille.
Accompanying the menu is a an extensive French wine list featuring a collection that offers something for everyone is terms of both taste and budget. With a relaxed ambience and genial service, Garnier is proving a very welcoming dining addition to the area.
