Established in 1992, El Rincon restaurant is a just a stone's throw from the famous Tattenham Corner of Epsom racecourse in sleepy Epsom Downs, and it remains one of the most delightful family-run Spanish restaurants in Surrey.
Proprietors Conchita Casares and her partner Josť Romay, aim to provide top quality food at fair prices - and they succeed! In addition to tapas and a full carte, the restaurant prides itself on a range of fixed-price weekly, weekend and seasonal menus.
Specialities of El Rincon are the daily-caught fresh fish and world-class paella. For starters try the cocktail of melon with prawns and mango on a bed of lettuce, dressed with cocktail sauce or tournedos of smoked salmon with prawns, eggs and mayonnaise. Main courses include suprÍme of chicken with prawns, chillies, basil and a rich tomato sauce and the wonderful braised lamb cooked with shallots, celery and carrots. El Rincon is also worth a visit simply to try the fillets of sea bass cooked with Serrano ham, almonds and garlic.
The wine list features a special section devoted to Crianza wines. In order to be categorized as 'Crianza', a red wine should be aged for a minimum of 24 months, of which at least 12 months should be in oak casks.
