Review on Dabbous
Dabbous a short walk from Goodge Street tube in the heart of Fitzrovia is the first restaurant from Ollie Dabbus, the former head chef of Michelin starred Texture. It is a joint venture with mixologist Oskar Kinberg the former manager of the Cuckoo Club. The venue is spread over two floors with an industrial urban vibe featuring exposed brickwork, sheet metal and copper pipes, with natural woods and candlelight offering some warmth to the proceedings.
Ollie's product driven menu focuses on modern dishes allowing the quality of the impeccable seasonal ingredients to shine through. From the innovative menu choose beef tartar with cigar oil, whisky and rye or coddled free range hen egg with woodland mushrooms and smoked butter amongst the starters. Main courses follow the theme with roast king crab with warm buttermilk and hispi cabbage or braised veal cheek with spelt, mixed alliums, and a light St. Gall broth. To finish desserts offer a tantalising mix of flavours with cucumber and perilla in a chilled lemon verbena infusion or chocolate and virgin hazelnut oil ganache, basil moss and sheep's milk ice cream. There's a well considered wine list to complement the food.
The downstairs basement is home to the bar presided over by Oskar Kinberg, where you can indulge in seasonal cocktails and a selection of bar snacks, as well as the full restaurant menu.
