Review on My Dining Room
My Dining Room is a French gastropub that opened in February 2010 on the the former site of The Farm in Fulham, a short stroll from Fulham Broadway station. It is owned by Frenchman Olivier Lavigne du Cadet who has a long career in the hospitality industry and previously held managerial positions at the Levant Group's Kenza and Pasha, and Bluebird on King's Road. This stylish venue is divided into sections, the dining area is a relaxed space with full length feature windows looking out onto a small courtyard, while the lounge and bar area with cosy open fireplaces are the perfect place for enjoying a drink or snack.
Tom Cencil is manning the stoves having previously worked at Harvey Nichols and One Lombard Street. There is a strong emphasis on local supplies and meat comes from Dedham Vale in Essex and award winning cheeses from Daylesford Organic and best seasonal ingredients are carefully sourced. Tom's menu focuses on traditional recipes with French classicism and modernity and he is currently working with guest chef John Burton-Race to create a special menu with some of John's classic dishes. Many dishes have been designed to be shared and are served informally in a roasting tray or large bowls.
To start there is a great artisan charcuterie board with a selection of home cured and smoked meats and pickles or a crab and avocado tian with gaspacho soup. Follow on with braised leg of rabbit, smoked bacon, wholegrain mustard sauce, spring greens or pan fried trout fillet with corn chowder sauce and kale.
Tempting desserts close the show with a chocolate bombe, chocolate nut crunch, fresh raspberries and hot chocolate sauce or Baileys creme brulée with crushed hazelnuts and chocolate coated spoon.
The keenly priced global wine list features organic and biodynamic wines, all of which are served by the glass or carafe.
